FareHarbor offers Tap to Pay on iPhone in the FareHarbor App

AMSTERDAM AND SAN FRANCISCO — FareHarbor, the leading software company for tour, activity, and experience operators, is proud to now offer Tap to Pay on iPhone in the FareHarbor app. In partnership with Stripe, Tap to Pay on iPhone allows FareHarbor clients to seamlessly and securely accept contactless payments using an iPhone and the FareHarbor iOS app — no additional hardware or readers required.

Why mobile payment solutions matter in tours and activities

With over 19,000 vendors and 100,000 bookable activities, FareHarbor is the largest reservation platform in the world and its client base relies on the ability to perform day-to-day tasks on the go.

“Our partners are always on the move, whether it’s taking a quick walk-up reservation before jumping in the water for a snorkel tour, or coordinating with guides while standing on a canopy platform hundreds of feet in the air,” said FareHarbor Chief Product Officer Mark Loh. “With Tap to Pay on iPhone, we’re able to continue reducing payment barriers, and enable our clients to provide a secure, convenient, and flexible checkout experience for travelers, so they can experience and explore the world.”

As travelers across the world move towards contactless transactions and omnichannel shopping practices, businesses have needed to adapt their in-person payment options to meet these new needs. With Tap to Pay on iPhone in the FareHarbor app, clients can securely accept Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets wherever their customers are. Customers’ payment data is also protected by the same technology that makes Apple Pay private and secure — all transactions made using Tap to Pay on iPhone are encrypted.

“In the heart of this peak travel season, tour guides from California to Connecticut can now accept payments instantly using the FareHarbor app. Whether you’re leading hikers over a mountain or kayakers down a river, receiving speedy and secure payments has never been easier,” said John Affaki, head of Stripe Terminal.

Integrating Tap to Pay on iPhone with the FareHarbor app

The integration of Tap to Pay on iPhone with the FareHarbor app was a partnership with Stripe. FareHarbor’s Lead iOS Engineer, Andrei Panfilov, credited Stripe’s easy-to-integrate software development kit (SDK) and all-encompassing documentation for a smooth implementation process, allowing his team to complete development and testing in 4 weeks with no interruptions to user experience.

“The comprehensive resources provided by Stripe’s engineering team ensured that the migration to contactless payment collection didn’t disrupt the existing integration at all,” Panfilov said. “We’re looking forward to seeing the feedback from our happy customers, who can utilize their iOS mobile devices to the full extent of an ‘all-in-one’ experience.”

Founded in 2013, FareHarbor has been a member of the Booking Holdings family since 2018. Built specifically for the activity industry, FareHarbor provides endless flexibility and customization to meet the unique needs of its clients, from axe-throwing to ziplines.

Tap to Pay on iPhone is currently available to all FareHarbor clients in the US.
