2-step verification
Last updated: December 6, 2024
2-step verification (2SV) is a multi-factor authentication (MFA) process used to help confirm a user’s identity before Dashboard access is granted. Enabling 2SV adds an extra layer of security that can prevent unauthorized individuals from accessing your Dashboard.
The user experience
To enable 2-step verification, a recovery phone number needs to be added in the Dashboard. Navigate to Settings > Users & Permissions > 2-Step Verification and add your company recovery phone number.
Once a company recovery phone number is added, then users will be able to enable 2SV for their own user profile. Navigate to Settings > Users & Permissions > Users, select user, then go to Account > 2-Step Verification to enable 2-step verification to add a mobile number.
When 2SV is enabled for a user, they will receive a Dashboard notification requesting a mobile phone number for verification.
The number provided by the user must be able to receive SMS text messages. Message and data rates may apply.
Once the user has confirmed their mobile number, FareHarbor will send them a verification code. To enable access to the Dashboard and the information within, the user must provide the code they received from FareHarbor.
After the correct code is provided, the user’s account will be secured and future verification codes will be sent to the mobile number provided by the user.
When 2SV is enabled for a user, they will be required to enter a verification code every time they log in via a different web browser or new device. Users who stay logged in on the same device and browser will be required to reverify every two weeks.
Frequently asked questions
What personal information will be used for 2SV?
In order to deliver a verification code, FareHarbor’s 2SV requires a mobile phone number for the user. (Note: the phone number provided must be able to receive SMS text messages. Message and data rates may apply.)
Where can I find 2SV settings in my Dashboard?
2SV exists at a user level. Navigate to Settings > Users & Permissions > Users, select a specific user, then go to Account > 2-Step Verification to update a user’s phone number or 2SV settings.
Is my business required to enable 2SV for users?

Can 2SV verification be updated for all Dashboard users simultaneously?
No, 2SV settings must currently be updated for each user on an individual basis.
Can I update my 2SV settings via the FareHarbor app?
No, a user’s 2SV settings cannot be updated via the app. Changes to a user’s 2SV settings must occur via web browser.
Will 2SV affect how I log in to the FareHarbor app?
When 2SV is enabled, the user must also provide a verification code when logging into the FareHarbor app. (Note: a user’s 2SV settings cannot be updated via the app. Changes to a user’s 2SV settings must occur via web browser.)
What if I don’t receive a code?
If you did not receive a verification code at the phone number listed for your user, click the Trouble receiving a code? prompt in the 2SV pop-up for troubleshooting tips or contact our Support Team for assistance.
Can I change my mobile phone number later?
A user can update their phone number at any time when logged in via web browser.
To update a 2SV phone number, navigate to Settings > User Permissions. Click on the relevant user and navigate to Account > 2-Step Verification to change the associated phone number. Under the 2-Step Verification tab, click the Reset button to confirm and verify the updated phone number. Once the new phone number has been successfully verified, it will replace the old phone number under the user’s 2SV settings.
(Note: A user’s phone number can only be updated by the user in question. If you need assistance updating another user’s phone number, please reach out to FareHarbor Support.)
