As an affiliate using API bookings
To join as an API partner you have to meet certain qualification criteria and you have to already be an API affiliate with FareHarbor. If you are interested in joining the FareHarbor API, please complete our application form.
Booking process
FHDN offers two primary booking options: referral links and API bookings.
Referral links
This is the ideal option for you if you have an online presence — like a blog, website, or social media channel. You can easily add referral links or widgets to activities you want to promote. When someone books through your link, you earn commission — simple as that.
How do FHDN links work?
Once tour operators sign up for the FHDN, their experiences become available in the FareHarbor Marketplace. That’s where you can handpick the tours and activities that align with your audience and niche.
To grab a referral link or widget from the Marketplace:
- Follow this link: https://partner.fareharbor.com > use your Marketplace username and password to log in.
- Browse the available activities based on your location. You can use the filters to narrow down your search.
- Open the Item you would like to resell.
- Click the Copy referral link button to get your unique URL and integrate it on your website to start generating bookings.
Important note: Do not modify the generated URL. - Once you have completed the initial integration, please notify your FHDN team representative in order to complete a quality control review.
Tip: We recommend that you paste the URL (PC: PressControl+V/ Mac: Presscommand+V) into a Google Doc, and share this Doc with your FHDN team representative.

API bookings
This method is best suited for you if you, as the affiliate, are the merchant on record (collecting the payment), and have technical infrastructure in place. As an approved FHDN API partner you can:
- Access FareHarbor’s inventory of over 180,000 products with one contract.
- Display real-time availability, pricing, content, and photos directly from our tour operators on your own platforms.
- Automate the booking experience while FareHarbor handles invoicing and payouts.
Benefits of joining as an FHDN API partner:
- FareHarbor handles invoicing and payments to the suppliers.
- You only receive one invoice and make one payment to FareHarbor.
- You can focus your time and resources on building high quality content and enhancing the user experience on your website.
By leveraging FareHarbor’s trusted infrastructure, your users enjoy a seamless and secure booking experience—building confidence and directly improving their satisfaction with your platform.
Widget types
Referral links
This is the most flexible option. Referral links can be added to any websites, QR codes, or emails that will be tracked.
In case you would like to customize the URL, use our Link Customizer. With it you can:
- Customize the Return URL.
- Add a Reference tag to know the origin of the booking from different pages.
This is how an integrated referral link would look like on your website:

Lightframe API
FareHarbor uses its own Lightframe (a pop-up overlay) to provide your customers with an intuitive, secure booking process. This tool contributes to a quality user experience and higher conversion rates. When a specific button, item, or link is clicked, the Lightframe opens as an overlay on top of the current webpage. This allows online customers to browse and complete their reservation without ever leaving your site.
Please follow the instructions below to ensure a seamless integration.
Insert the following HTML code once per page before the closing </body> tag:
<script type="text/javascript" src="https://fareharbor.com/embeds/api/v1/?autolightframe=yes"></script>
You can learn more about this on our Advanced Lightframe API Usage help page.
For WordPress users, you can download and install our FareHarbor for WordPress plugin to have the above code automatically added to your website.
Calendar link and script
This option is great for cases where you need to add a booking calendar to your website. We offer two options:
- Calendar link: Visit FareHarbor Marketplace and copy the desired booking link. You can then customize the URL using our Link Customizer.
- Calendar script: After grabbing a link from the Marketplace, you can use our Link to Calendar tool to convert the URL into a script which can be used on your website.

Embed generator tool
This option is not available in the Marketplace yet but is a tool that FareHarbor provides for you to personalize your booking widgets.
In addition to book buttons you can also use a calendar embed or create a list of activities using our custom embed builder. You can also use our Custom Embed Generator to create a list of activities. With it you can customize color, font size, and order.
Notes:
- The embed builder requires using custom code on your website.
- We recommend keeping custom embeds to no more than 12 activities.

Cancellations and refunds
For canceled and partially refunded bookings, you receive your commission proportionally to the amount the tour provider has been paid. For partially refunded bookings you still receive 15% commission on the unrefunded balance.
If a booking is canceled and fully refunded, no commission will be paid out for the booking.
Agreement details & handling payments
When you refer a customer who books an activity through the FHDN program you earn a 15% commission on the total booking value. It’s completely hands-off — FareHarbor takes care of everything:
- We collect the commission from the tour operator.
- We ensure you’re paid the correct amount.
- We send you a detailed report each month, so you know exactly which bookings came through your links.
Here’s how the payment timeline works:
- Commissions are withdrawn from the tour operator’s account on the 5th business day of the month (based on the date the activity was delivered).
- Your payout is deposited into your account on the 10th business day of the month.
No chasing payments, no confusion — just a clear, reliable system that rewards you for every successful referral.
Setting up your bank account
To receive payouts from FHDN you must add a bank account in your affiliate Dashboard.
To add a bank account:
- Go to Settings > Bank & Payments.
- Click the Bank Accounts tab.
- Click Add bank account and follow the prompts.
Tracking and reporting
Booking reports
To view bookings made through FHDN:
- Log into your affiliate Dashboard.
- Go to Reports > Customers and marketing.
- Click Booking source.
You can then use the filters and grouping options to analyze:
- Top-selling experiences on your website.
- Which days your website generates more bookings.
- An overview of your expected earnings.
Note: For expected earnings, run reports by Availability date.
Learn more about the Booking source report on our Reports for affiliates help page.

Potential Google Analytics-FareHarbor reports discrepancies
Sometimes you may notice discrepancies between Google Analytics and our reports. If you see a discrepancy and are unsure why it’s happening, please reach out to us at channelsupport@fareharbor.com.
Below are a few common reasons for these discrepancies:
- Cancelled, refunded, or rebooked bookings: These are often not eligible for commission or only partially eligible.
- Non-commissionable custom fields: Some custom fields (also known as add-ons) are not commissionable, even if they are still tracked in Google Analytics. Examples include: Natural parks entry costs, fuel surcharges.
- Google Analytics (GA4) was not set up properly: This can result in inaccurate tracking.
Tip: Use the Google Tag Assistant to verify if your GA4 tag is active on your website. - GA4 ID is not associated with the charter company: When you add a new tour or experience, we need to manually link your GA4 ID to the correct company Dashboard. If you suspect this is causing an issue, please contact us to ensure it’s up to date.
- Duplicate GA4 ID on the charter company: If tracking appears to trigger twice per booking, your GA4 ID may have been added twice. Let us know so we can take a look and resolve it.
- Tax-handling differences (Europe or USA): Keep in mind that in Europe, commission includes tax while in the U.S., it typically does not.
Note: Some Dashboards have tax set to zero, which can further skew analytics data.
- Logging out of FareHarbor: If someone logs out before completing a test booking, the unique tracking identifier may be lost.
- FareHarbor Lightframe is not working: To properly track client steps on FareHarbor pages, the Lightframe must be activated.
Frequently asked questions
How do referral links work?
Copy a booking link from the FareHarbor Marketplace and place it anywhere (website, email, or social media). When a booking is completed through your link, your affiliate ID is tracked and commission is applied.
Do I need to contact tour providers to distribute their activities?
No. Once they opt into the FHDN program, their products are available to you without needing direct contact.
FareHarbor has clients nearby, but I don’t see inventory for my region on the Marketplace. Why?
Not all FareHarbor clients participate in the FHDN program. Get in touch with us, we’re happy to help source more tours in your area. If you know a provider interested in joining, let us know! We’ll gladly reach out and share the benefits of joining the FHDN network.
I have direct contracts with some of your providers. Do they still apply in FHDN?
Absolutely. You can use the FHDN alongside your existing agreements. The benefit of the FHDN is that it removes the need for manual contracting or invoicing — saving you time and resources. You can display both affiliate booking widgets and FHDN booking buttons on your site at the same time.
Why does a booking appear in GA4 but not my commission report?
The booking was likely canceled. Contact strategicpartnerships@fareharbor.com with the booking details and we can investigate further.
Can I access the customer’s name or contact information?
No. Personally identifiable information (PII) is not shared to protect customer privacy.
Is there a minimum requirement or fee to participate?
No, there’s no minimum threshold or participation fee. You’ll receive the full 15% commission for every eligible booking you generate — no strings attached.
