Smart Checkout
FareHarbor's Smart Checkout feature shows only the relevant payment methods to customers when they are completing checkout.
Research shows that displaying the most relevant payment methods, instead of all available payment methods, reduces cognitive load on customers and leads to faster checkout.
How does it work?
If Smart Checkout is enabled, when the customer is finishing their booking at checkout, they see a list of payment methods that is specifically tailored to them.
The order and list of the shown payment methods is based on:
- The customer’s location and browser settings
- The payment methods enabled on your Dashboard
- The customer’s currency
For example:
- Your business is based in the Netherlands and the customer is booking from the USA.
-
Your company has Afterpay, Alipay, WeChat Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Klarna enabled.
Therefore, the customer will only see Card, Apple Pay / Google Pay and Afterpay as payment methods tailored to their location. The remaining payment methods are listed under a separate menu.
How does it work with multicurrency payments?
In the above example, we assume that the customer can pay only in USD. The customer will also have the option to choose payment in EUR (if they’re based in the Netherlands).
The payment methods shown at checkout depend on the Dashboard currency and the payment provider's availability. Some payment methods support multiple currencies, while others may only be available for specific currencies or regions. As a result, the payment methods displayed may change when the customer switches currencies.
