If auto-assignment is disabled, online calendars and customer type dropdowns will not be able to take seat map capacity, zones, or exclusive groups into account. Whenever possible, especially when dealing with a more complex setup, auto-assignment should be enabled. If it’s not, make sure that resource max uses are always set to ensure users can never overbook seats.
