Last updated: March 17, 2025
To change or update a picture or media in WordPress, follow these steps (there are multiple ways to update photos):
Updating Media Already in Use (e.g., in a Page or Activity):
NOTE: Please refer to the help page linked to understand Activity Pages & Pages.
Log in to Your WordPress Dashboard:
- Navigate to your website’s admin panel (yourwebsite.com/wp-admin).
Go to the Page or Post:
- Navigate to Pages or Activities in the dashboard to update the media.
- TIP: For quicker access, visit the page you want to edit and simply add /edit to the end of the URL (e.g., yourwebsite.com/edit) to go directly to the editor.
Locate the Specific Page or Activity:
- Browse through the list or use the search bar at the top of the page to find the specific page or activity you want to update. Click Edit.
Replacing an Existing Image on an Activity Page:
- Navigate to the Activities section on the left-hand side and click on All Activities.
- Find the activity you’d like to update: Browse or search for the specific activity and click to edit it.
- Once inside the page, scroll down to the media section, update the image you’d like to change, and click Update.
Sizing Recommendations:
Images: Images should have a resolution of 1600px wide by 900px tall or greater. While we can downsize images, making them larger can be challenging and often reduces the quality.
Videos: Videos should be uploaded to YouTube in the highest definition possible (720p+ or higher). For more information, refer to YouTube’s recommended video settings.
