Accessibility
Last updated: September 3, 2024
FareHarbor is committed to making our online booking experience inclusive and accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 as a standard to define accessibility and success for level AA compliance.
Our booking process is developed with accessibility as a necessary measure to provide all users with a rich experience and equal access to content. We meet the guidelines for ensuring that screen readers and other assistive technology can interpret our online booking experience from start to checkout. A few of the many rules that we have implemented and continue to follow when developing for our users include (with corresponding WCAG success criteria):
- All content is properly ordered, and is navigable with only a keyboard (2.4.3 Focus Order, 2.1.1 Keyboard)
- Form labels are in place and provide descriptive prompts (3.3.2 Labels or Instructions)
- Text is large enough and provides sufficient contrast for readability (1.4.6 Contrast)
- A visible focus indicator is always present for keyboard users to track their current position (2.4.7 Focus Visible)
- Images provide alternative text (1.1 Text Alternatives)
- Meaningful text is provided for links and buttons, independent of context (2.4.4 Link Purpose)
Designers and engineers at FareHarbor understand that planning and implementing with accessibility in mind is integral to our process. Our efforts to make FareHarbor accessible are ongoing and include updates to our current platform as well as process changes to ensure new features are designed and developed with a focus on accessibility.
FareHarbor welcomes comments or suggestions on improving the accessibility of its website and information technologies. If you are using a FareHarbor website, you can contact our Support team, and a Live Sites Specialist can perform an accessibility audit of your site. All FareHarbor sites strive to meet AA accessibility standards.
If you are not using a FareHarbor website, you will need to contact your web developer to understand your current level of compliance and what steps you can take to improve accessibility.
