Using Apple Pay and Google Pay for online payments

Digital wallets allow customers to link their credit cards, debit cards, and bank accounts to an app or device, which can then be used to make purchases online.
FareHarbor supports the following digital wallets for online payments:
Tip: To accept bookings in person using Apple Pay or Google Pay, you can use any of our supported card readers.
Apple Pay
Apple Pay is the digital wallet offered by Apple. Apple Pay is available for customers using a supported browser and/or device:
- An iOS device (iPhone or iPad) running iOS 13 or later
- Safari 11 on macOS 10.13 or later
Customers using iOS devices that do not meet the above requirements will not see the option to pay online using Apple Pay. They will still be able to pay using a different payment option based on your Dashboard settings.
Customers can use Apple Pay to pay for their booking by selecting Apple Pay and clicking the Pay button:
Their booking confirmation shows that Apple Pay was used during checkout:
In your Dashboard, Apple Pay is shown in the payment summary on the booking overview:
Google Pay
Google Pay is the digital wallet offered by Google. Google Pay is available for customers using a supported browser and/or device:
- Chrome version 61 or above for Desktop computers (Windows PCs or macOS)
- Chrome version 61 or above for Android devices
Customers using Android devices that do not meet the above requirements will not see the option to pay online using Google Pay. They will still be able to pay using a different payment option based on your Dashboard settings.
Customers can use Google Pay to pay for their booking by selecting Google Pay and clicking the Pay button:

Express checkout with Apple Pay and Google Pay
The express checkout option allows customers to complete purchases quickly and securely with one tap using digital wallets like Google Pay or Apple Pay, eliminating the need to manually enter payment and billing details.
Customers will see the express checkout option for Google Pay or Apple Pay if the below requirements are met.

Apple Pay has additional OS requirements:
- An iOS device (iPhone or iPad) running iOS 13 or newer.
- Safari 11 on macOS 10.13 or newer.
Customers who cannot see the express checkout option will still be able to pay using a different payment option that is currently enabled for your Dashboard.
Viewing digital wallet payments in reports
You can run reports on bookings paid with Apple Pay and Google Pay by using the Credit Card Type filter and/or grouping in your Sales reports.
Refunds and Disputes
Refunds
Refunds for payments made using digital wallets are processed in the same way as any other credit card payment. Learn more about refunds.
Disputes
If a customer has linked a credit card to either their Apple or Google Pay accounts, it is possible for them to log a dispute for a digital wallet payment made through FareHarbor.
You will be notified if this occurs, at which point you can follow the standard dispute handling procedures.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I enable Apple Pay and Google Pay for online payments?
Apple Pay and Google Pay are available by default for all items and availabilities in your FareHarbor Dashboard. No additional permissions or other settings are required.
Why don’t my customers see Apple Pay or Google Pay as payment options while booking online?
If your customers don’t see Apple Pay or Google Pay as payment options, it may be due to one or more of the following reasons:
- They’re using an unsupported browser and/or device. See Apple’s guidelines or Google’s guidelines for details on supported devices and browsers.
- They do not have an Apple Pay or Google Pay digital wallet set up.
- You do not have Stripe enabled as the payment processor on your Dashboard.
What payment processors are supported for use with Google Pay and Apple Pay?
To be able to accept customer payments with Google Pay or Apple Pay, Stripe must be your payment processor. Adyen and PayPal are not currently supported.

Are there any additional fees when a customer uses Apple Pay or Google Pay for payments?
No, the processing fees are the same whether they use a digital wallet (Apple Pay and Google Pay) or manually enter their card information.
