FareHarbor Dock Staff mode

  • Updated

Additional information is available to FareHarbor employees.

FareHarbor Dock will default to Staff mode when you log into the app. This employee-facing mode enables staff to create bookings, process payments, print receipts, and check in customers.

Dock Staff mode is available on supported tablets and smartphones.

Check out the video below for a comprehensive walkthrough of Staff mode.

We recommend using item allocation if you would like to assign specific items to location-specific Dock devices and offer only the most relevant options.

Creating a booking

You can use either the Item or Calendar view to create a booking. Learn how to change your default view settings.

To create a booking in Dock Staff mode:

  1. Select the Items or Calendar tab at the top of the application to select your desired view.
    • If in Items view: Select the activity you want to create a booking for > tap on the desired availability > tap Next.
    • If in Calendar view: Tap on the desired availability.
  2. Add the number of tickets being booked for each customer type.

Note: You can see the breakdown of the booking by customer type on the right side. Tap Total to see the breakdown of ticket price and taxes.

  3. Tap Next to add any of the below fields:
    • Custom field information. (For example: “How did you hear about us?”)
    • Whole-booking custom fields

Note: If these custom fields are not configured, this step is skipped and you go directly to Checkout.

  4. Finalize the order based upon the customer’s needs:
    • If the customer is purchasing only one activity, tap Checkout to continue to the Cart screen.
    • If the customer is purchasing tickets for multiple activities, tap Add to cart and repeat Steps 1-3 for additional activities as needed.
  5. On the Cart screen you can:
    • Click on an item to manage it (optional)
    • Add customer details (Note: This step is required unless configured as optional. Learn more about creating bookings without a contact name.)
    • Add a gift card (optional)

Tap on Checkout again if none of the above updates are required.

  6. Select the customer’s payment method and follow the steps on screen.

    Notes:

  7. Confirm the payment.

The booking is confirmed and you are taken to the booking confirmation screen.

Managing existing bookings

You can manage bookings directly in Staff mode without switching to the FareHarbor Dashboard.

To manage bookings via Staff mode in Dock:

  1. Tap on the Bookings button located on the bottom navigation bar.
  2. Use the search bar to find the booking.

Note: You can search by booking IDs, order IDs, vouchers (exact match), phone numbers, and name or email. Enter at least three characters to search.

  3. Tap on the booking you would like to manage.

Using the booking management option in Dock you can:

  • Update the check-in status of the guests.
  • Faciliate waiver signing for the booking.
  • Print tickets or receipts.

Learn more about it in our Booking management in Dock Staff mode help page.

Accepting other payment methods

In addition to credit and debit card payments, you can also accept any other custom payment types that are enabled in your Dashboard. Learn how to set up and adjust your payment types.

Once a payment type has been set up in your Dashboard, it will appear as a potential payment method during checkout.

Changing the selected payment type

If a payment type has been selected, but the client then decides to pay using a different payment type, click the Change payment method button to select an alternate payment option.

The payment method cannot be changed if only one payment type is set up in the Dashboard.

View-specific tips

Item view:

  • Tap on the information icon in the top-right of an item tile to see more information about the activity. This includes the item description, location, health and safety information, and cancellation policies.
  • Tap and hold an availability listing to view booking details.

Calendar view:

  • Quickly identify the next upcoming availability by looking for the availability highlighted in blue.
  • Drag down from the top of the screen to refresh availabilities.
  • Tap and hold an activity card to view available customer types for the availability.

Retail view:

  • You can display and sell retail items separately from your standard items on this tab.
  • Having retail items and this view enabled in Dock helps optimize the staff and customer experience by removing the standard item booking requirement of selecting an availability (a date or time).

If you are interested in adding retail items and the Retail view to your Dock application, please reach out to FareHarbor Support.

Checking in customers

After creating a booking, you can check customers in directly from the confirmation screen.

  1. Click on the status and select the relevant option to check your customer in.

  2. Once the booking check-in is complete, the booking status will be updated in the FareHarbor Dashboard.

It is also possible to update the check-in status of the booking via the Check-in button on the booking details screen. Learn more about it on this help page.

Signing FareHarbor waivers

If the FareHarbor waivers feature is enabled for your Dashboard, customers can sign a waiver as part of the booking flow.

Once a booking is complete, a Sign waiver button will appear. Tapping this button will open the waiver, which can then be presented to the customer for review and signature.

The waiver and any associated submission details will be available in your Dashboard. Learn more about viewing waiver information in the Dashboard.

The Sign waiver button is also available on the booking details screen. The customer can either sign the waiver on your device or scan a QR code and sign it on their own device. Learn more about it here.
